A new chapter in Midlothian education has been marked, as pupils attended their first day at Burnbrae Primary School in Bonnyrigg.
Around 120 families turned out on October 24 for a special walk from the old Hopefield Primary School to the new building.
Giving the old school a fitting send off, the Scotpipe Pipe Band accompanied youngsters and parents who waved colourful banners while on the march.
Council leader Bob Constable (SNP), who joined in the procession, said: “I was delighted to see the pupils celebrate their first day by walking to their new school with the pipe band.
“The new building is a huge improvement and a real asset to the local community.”
