Bonnyrigg teenagers are to get their skates on following a council decision to press ahead with plans for a £130,000 skatepark at King George V Park.
Scrutinising an application – submitted by Midlothian Council – at a planning committee meeting in Dalkeith last week, elected members unanimously approved plans, subject to the development commencing within three years and detailed drawings being submitted before any works begin.
Constructed in concrete, the skatepark will be located on existing grassland at the eastern end of the park, and will lie adjacent to the Bonnyrigg Leisure Centre complex.
The height of the slopes and curves of the L-shaped facility, which will cater for skaters, rollerbladers and cyclists, will not exceed 2.3 metres.
