A Mayfield family has had to flee their home after it became infested with bugs.
Charlene McIntyre moved into her Melville Housing council flat on Andrew Dodds Avenue in February with her four-year-old son and daughter, who is 22 months old.
But she is now having to find alternative accommodation as the bug problem won’t go away, leaving Miss McIntyre counting the cost financially and mentally.
She said: “Everywhere has been sprayed but we are still finding them. It’s got out of hand.
“I’m getting really depressed about it and I suffer from severe depression already. I’m in constant fear and I can’t sleep anymore.
“I’m totally paranoid about it. I bought a new mattress which is totally full of eggs now, that cost me money I can’t afford. I don’t work, I’m a single parent.”
Melville Housing Association told the Advertiser that moving Miss McIntyre and her two young children to a new home was not an option, as the bugs would simply move with her.
