Midlothian Council’s Labour group has been accused of “bullyboy tactics” after a decision which could leave four campaigning nursery workers without a job.
Last week, angry Woodburn residents marched on Midlothian Council’s HQ calling for the former Thornybank Nursery to be kept for community use, following the decision to demolish Dalkeith Community Centre.
The campaign was spearheaded by Woodburn Community Nursery – which had been based at the community centre.
But the council has decided to increase nursery provision at its own Woodburn facility and withdraw its offer to move the community nursery to Dalkeith Miners’ Welfare Club.
