A Mayfield writer is hoping to capitalise on her recent success and use her semi-retirement to take her hobby more seriously.
Carol Hunter (60), came second in the recent Bloody Scotland writing competition - run by authors Alex Gray and Liz Anderson.
Her short story - psychological thriller A Different Kind Of Freedom - came second to an American author. And just days before Carol discovered this recognition she was in Glasgow giving a reading of her short story Octavious which is included in a book published last month.
Carol said: “All the big writers were there so it was a big deal for me. I’m still in shock that I did so well. It’s the very first time I have entered a competition so it was amazing..”
Carol has been in the Gorebridge Writing Group for a year, which has helped her “enormously”.
