Campaign to help Midlothian’s vulnerable

A series of events are being held in Midlothian next week to tackle doorstep crime.

Police Scotland, Midlothian Council, Crimestoppers and Trading Standards Scotland will be highlighting the local Nominated Neighbour scheme, which can help protect vulnerable residents.

The initiative involves displaying a sign directing callers to attend at the nominated neighbour’s house first, where they can be verified as bona fide.

Other activity will include raising awareness with elderly or vulnerable groups, distributing leaflets, high-visibility patrols and road checks.
