Capital police plan secure, pledges chief

THE new deputy chief
constable in charge of local policing for the new single Scottish force has pledged that Edinburgh will receive resources reflecting its “capital city status”.

DCC Rose Fitzpatrick added that senior officers will also be able to draft in extra help from across the country.

She said: “Edinburgh is a capital city with a large number of visitors, significant public events, a royal presence, and a seat of government. The local policing plan will reflect that and the assets needed will
continue.”

DCC Fitzpatrick said that a loss of police staff during the transition to a single force could see officers drafted in on a “temporary basis” to fill
backroom roles.

DCC Fitzpatrick served in a number of deputy assistant commissioner posts in the
Metropolitan Police before landing one of the four deputy chief jobs in Scotland.
