Capital popular with migrants

MIGRANTS from Poland, China, Spain and Ireland consider Edinburgh to be among the best places in Britain to work, according to the latest figures from the Department for work and Pensions.

The figures show where the UK’s 600,810 foreign migrants settled last year – with Edinburgh the second choice for Chinese and Irish, and third most popular with the Spanish and Polish.

Poles, who have long been a growing part of the city economy, preferred only Ealing in West London, or Northern Ireland to Edinburgh as their
preferred place to live.
