Multi-million selling singer-songwriter Amy Macdonald took some time out of her busy schedule to share top tips with some young carers from Midlothian last week.

The carers – Montana Cleevley and Jodie Lewis, both from Dalkeith; Sam Williams, from Gorebridge; and Bonnyrigg’s Bryony Hughes – will be making their first public appearance as a music group at Edinburgh’s Ross Band Stand in Princes Street Gardens on July 20.

The group of 14 and 15 year olds, who formed with the support of children’s charity CHILDREN 1ST and the Heart of Midlothian Education Trust, spoke with Amy about how to deal with life in the limelight and then rehearsed by singing along with the star to the chorus of her latest single ‘Slow it Down’.

Amy, who launched her new album, ‘Life In A Beautiful Light’ earlier this week, complimented the young carers on their bravery.
