Catherine’s big push is big success

A DEDICATED fundraiser has helped raise hundreds of pounds for veterans’ charity the Mark Wright Project.

Catherine Dunn, from Newtongrange, has arranged a £500 donation to the charity from the Straiton TK Maxx store, which will be presented on Saturday. Ms Dunn also helped raise more than £1000 for the Dalkeith-based charity by asking firms and famous people to donate goods to be raffled and auctioned at a recent fundraising event.

Among the items she collected were a bottle of whisky from First Minister Alex Salmond and a T-shirt from Olympic gold medallist Chris Hoy. She hopes to raise more funds with a cheese-and-wine night at the Dean Tavern at Newtongrange on September 9.
