Detectives are still investigating the incident at the Post Office in Dalry Road in February, when a man made off with a two-figure sum of cash after assaulting two staff members.

CCTV images released by police today show a man wearing bright purple gloves approaching and entering the Post Office, before leaving and going into a nearby shop.

The incident happened at around 4.45pm on February 21.

Detective Sergeant Neil Spowart said: “This was a terrifying episode for the staff and, even though nobody was physically hurt, it is obviously crucial that we find the person responsible for this crime.

“The area around Dalry Road was busy at the time and we continue to urge members of the public who saw anything suspicious to come forward.

“The man who police officers wish to trace is described as being white, between 30 and 40 years of age, 6ft in height, and of slim build. He was wearing bright purple gloves, a dark coloured woollen Tammy hat, dark coloured scarf, dark coloured bomber style jacket, blue jeans and dark coloured trainers at the time of the incident.”

Anyone who recognises the man in the image or may have information about the incident is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or anonymous line Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
