Cherry on the icing at Midlothian centre

A fun and friendly place is due to get even better for members of Midlothian’s special needs community.

The result of a partnership formed between Rotary and staff will see an indoor sensory garden created at Bonnyrigg’s Cherry Road Resource Centre.

“It’s one of our biggest ventures of recent years, only made possible by the generosity of the public who so magnificently supported our winter fund-raising campaign,” said Jim Church, president of Dalkeith Rotary Club.

The makeover proposed for the conservatory wing of the facility includes an artificial lawn, super-size sand tray and high-slung shade sails.

Ideas were exchanged after the Rotarians arranged for power-washing of the concrete-slabbed floor and donated three patio benches last summer, followed by raising of £1,500 from the proceeds of two musical shows and a coffee morning.
