Children find syringe in Easthouses

Locals are being warned to keep an eye out for discarded needles after children in Easthouses were spotted playing with a bloody syringe.

Eight-year-old Paige Simpson and her friends were playing close to her home at Parkhead Park when they discovered the dirty needle.

According to the youngster’s mother Maureen (42), one of the children took the lid off the syringe before another started to squeeze it.

She explained: “They had been playing round the corner and were all eating sweets when they found it on the pavement.

“The bairn came in and told me that her two pals had touched it – I panicked and wondered if they might have jagged themselves.”
