Loanhead and District Community Council is to appeal against its funding cut.
Under the new grants system implemented by Midlothian Council, the Loanhead civic organisation is to receive £400 for the year – around £300 less than normal.
Chairman Pat Kenny said: “We have virtually got our grant application halved. It doesn’t even cover the honorarium [to the secretary and chairman].”
Council leader Owen Thompson (SNP) told the meeting that the local authority was facing budgetary pressures and had to know where every penny was going.
He added the council was looking to devolve more money to communities.
