Bonnyrigg’s new skate park is proving to be a magnet for anti-social behaviour, say local residents who are calling for it to be supervised.
Just weeks since the facility at King George V Park was officially opened, reports of drinking, drug-taking and bullying have caused concern within the community.
Darius Namdaran, chairman of Bonnyrigg and Lasswade Community Council, told the Advertiser: “Bullying and intimidation is not what we want for our kids. Youngsters of all ages are getting sucked into this. They need mentors and they need a safe place – not a skate park stuck in the middle of an unoccupied park so that the worst elements can take over.”
