Contractor repairs Polton war memorial

A MIDLOTHIAN contractor has helped reinstate a war memorial plaque in time for Remembrance Day.

As previously reported in the Advertiser, the bronze mounting on the Polton Village memorial was stolen in the weeks leading up to Sunday’s commemoration event.

The plaque, embossed with the names of three servicemen from World War II, is believed to have been taken for its scrap value.

Working with Midlothian Council to identify the original plaque details, Forth Stone, based in Dalhousie Business Park, stepped in to provide a new one.
