Copper thieves hit Lothian

Police are warning members of the public to stay vigilant following the attempted theft of copper cabling in Midlothian.

A series of holes were dug around four lampposts directly behind Cockpen Crescent in Bonnyrigg between 11pm on Friday and 7am on Saturday. Although no cabling was removed, it is likely the holes had been dug to prepare for future access.

Police appealed for information and said damage amounted to £1200.
