Repairs to the subsidence-hit Old Dalkeith Road will cost more than previously anticipated.
The council had initially allocated £744,000 to undertake the repairs.
But latest estimates, according to Council Leader Bob Constable (SNP), indicate that additional funding will be necessary.
He said: “Our contractor has been undertaking further detailed ground investigations since January, to enable suitable design solutions to be identified and compared.
“We are now at the stage where the best design has been identified and will be progressed to final detailing, allowing the main repairs works to commence.”
