Council Leader offers assurances that bus services will remain in Midlothian

Leader of Midlothian Council Lisa Beattie is “confident” that critical services will remain in place after First Bus begins winding down its operations next week.

In April First Bus announced plans to discontinue all but three of its Midlothian services and close its Dalkeith depot. With the first phase of changes taking effect on Monday, June 4, Mrs Beattie is reassuring bus users that all is being done to plug the service gaps.

She said: “This is a huge blow to the county and the biggest change to the bus services here for more than a decade. We completely understand how worrying this must be for passengers but we are confident of keeping bus services going for our residents.”
