Midlothian Council’s online and telephone payment service will not be available this Sunday (November 29) between 1pm and 5pm.
This is due to its payments provider, Civica, upgrading its servers.
From noon on Tuesday, December 8 to noon on Wednesday, December 9, the council will be upgrading its own payment system.
This will mean that the cash office desks at Buccleuch House will be closed.
Other services in the building, including licensing, will remain open to the public but will be unable to take payments.
Customers calling the contact centre will not be able to make any payments.
Visitors to the website will be unable to make any payments.
The council’s automated telephone payment system (0131 660 1845) will be unavailable too for that short period of time.
The council hopes to have online and automated telephone payments available after 6pm on Tuesday but it would advise that any urgent payments are made prior to midday on Tuesday.
Councillor Kelly Parry (SNP), the cabinet member for customer services, said: “We apologise in advance for the interruption to our service.
“We try and keep these disruptions to a minimum. However, they are required if the payments system is to remain as effective and efficient as possible.
“Many thanks for your patience. We want to make sure as many people as possible can pay online or in person, quickly and easily.”
