Midlothian’s top police officer is leaving to take up a new post with Scottish Borders Council.

Chief Superintendent Jeanette McDairmid, who was awarded the Queen’s Police Medal in the New Year’s Honours, will become a depute chief executive at SBC.

She is due to leave Police Scotland next month.

Mrs McDiarmid will oversee the new ‘People’ department, which cover areas such as social work, education, and business and performance.
