Food, fun and an array of information on housing topics will all be available when Midlothian Council hosts its annual Tenants Day on Friday May 31.
Topics under discussion at this year’s event, which takes place at Dalkeith Arts Centre between 1pm and 4pm, include the council’s new housing allocation policy, welfare reform, tenant scrutiny and Homeswapper, the nationwide mutual exchange scheme. There will also be full information on the council’s new build programme.
Councillor Owen Thompson, cabinet member for housing, said; “We are always keen to meet directly with tenants and discuss the issues directly affecting them. This year we will be looking for feedback on how we can continue to improve our services and provide best value for money.
“The first changes to welfare reform took effect in April and with more changes due we will be providing an overview of where we are, what’s still to come and, most importantly, how the council can help.”
Midlothian Food and Drinks Awards nominee, Clan Catering will be providing a free hot carvery and the menu of fun and entertainment includes face painting and glitter tattoos, helium balloons and bingo with star prizes. There will also be a free crèche.
