Course talks coping with Asperger’s

Advice on how to cope with Asperger’s syndrome is on offer at a free course.

Living with Asperger’s Syndrome: What Helps? will be held at Loanhead Miners’ Club, The Loan, on Tuesday, August 23 from 12.45pm to 3.30pm.

Run by Parents of Autistic Spectrum Disorder Adults, the course is aimed at the family and friends of adults with a diagnosis of Asperger’s syndrome or high functioning autism (AS/HFA) or those suspected to have this condition.

The event will focus on practical strategies for supporting an adult with AS/HFA.

Participants will learn how to continue specific skills to assist an individual with AS/HFA.

Themes will include adjustments to our own communication style, developing and supporting an individual’s own coping strategies and responding to an individual’s behaviour and thinking style.

The event is for family and friends only, not professionals working with adults with autistic spectrum condition.
