Crew rescues man and dog

A MAN and his dog had to be rescued from a scenic riverside in Edinburgh yesterday after becoming trapped.

Fire fighters pulled the man to safety after he slipped down an embankment on the Water of Leith walkway at Wester Coates Avenue.

The dog walker had plunged down the steep riverside after trying to rescue his spaniel, which had slipped down first.

Both the man and his dog were stuck at the bottom of the embankment at Wester Coates Avenue.

Fire crews used a special bag to bring the dog to safety.
