15-year-old taken to hospital after being knocked off bike in Edinburgh hit-and-run

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 15-year-old cyclist was rushed to hospital following a collision with a car that did not stop.

The incident happened around 7pm on Sunday (December 13).

The teenage boy was riding a ‘Just Eat’ hire bike Mayfield Gardens, and at the junction of East Mayfield his bike was struck by a vehicle, which did not stop.

He was taken to the Royal Hospital for Children, where he was checked over and released.

Constable Grant Hastie said: “We are gathering and viewing CCTV footage.

"I would urge the driver concerned or anyone who witnessed this incident, or drivers with dash-cam footage to contact officers through 101 quoting 2797 of 13 December.”
