22-year-old arrested after Edinburgh armed robbery

Police in Edinburgh have made an arrest after launching a manhunt for an armed robber in May.

Officers said they had arrested and charged a 22-year-old man following the raid at a shop in the Warriston area of the city on the morning of Saturday, May 9.

He is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday, 29 June, 2020.

Police investigating said a man entered the store on Montagu Terrace at around 7:40am on May 9, wearing a black face covering and a black hooded top.

He is alleged to have brandished a knife, threatening staff to open the till.

Officers said he fled minutes later with a sum of cash.

Detective Sergeant Dougal Begg, of Corstorphine CID, said at the time: “Thankfully nobody was injured in the incident but this was a frightening experience for the member of staff.”
