CCTV appeal after woman, 22, has her handbag stolen during Leith attack

Police are asking anyone who recognises the man, pictured, to come forward.

Police have released an image of a man they want to trace after a 22-year-old woman had her handbag stolen during an attack in Leith.

The incident happened on Dalmeny Street, just off Leith Walk, at about 3am on Tuesday October 8th last year.

Police said a 22-year-old woman was assaulted and had her handbag stolen.

Officers believe the man pictured may have information to assist their investigation and anyone who recognises him is urged to come forward.

The man in the image described as having dark hair, of slim build and about 5ft 10ins in height.He is pictured wearing black trousers, a black jacket or shirt and black shoes.

Police Constable Ewan Bates, of the Violence Reduction Unit at Gayfield Police Station, said: “We are keen to trace the man in the CCTV footage as he may be able to assist with our investigation.

"If you can identify him, or have any information that can help with our enquiries then please get in touch. Likewise, if the man himself sees this appeal then please contact us.”
