Coastguard helicopter mobilised to help stricken vessel off the coast of Dunbar

A Coastguard helicopter was called upon after a boat got into trouble off the coast of Dunbar this morning.

One eyewitness saw the helicopter circling overhead at around 12:20pm, and said an ambulance and a fire engine were also waiting at Dunbar Harbour.

A spokesperson for HM Coastguard said teams from Dunbar and North Berwick were first called at 11:30am this morning, after reports that a “vessel” had broken down off the coast.

As lifeboats were dispatched to aide the stranded crew, the Coastguard confirmed that one of its helicopters was called to the scene, but was not needed.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that it was in attendance at the scene.

Police Scotland and the Scottish Ambulance Service have been contacted for comment.
