Cameron Steele’s KTM RC125 bike was nabbed by thieves from outside the Erskine Care Home in Gilmerton Road - near Morrisons supermarket - at around 10:20pm on November 27 as he worked the night shift.

The 22-year-old care assistant says he had been using the bike for the hour-long commute to work from his home near Lanark and that there was a steering lock and a chain tied around the rear wheel and bike frame which had been cut off.

Speaking to the Edinburgh Evening News on Friday, Cameron said: “It’s just disgraceful how people can steal a vehicle from anyone for a bit of fun and a bit of money from parts, if it made it that far, and it’s way too easy to steal a bike.

“I worked hard through the lockdowns, so it was a reward to myself but I only got out on it a few times.”

The motorbike itself is orange and black in colour with the registration plate AK16 MHM.
