Inspector Kieran Dougal from Howdenhall Police Station said: “Numerous officers were involved in this enquiry which resulted in the recovery of pedal bikes valued at about £4,500. It’s always satisfying to return property to its rightful owner.

"A 20 year old local man has been arrested and charged for the thefts and will appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today (3 August 2020).

“Pedal bike theft is a priority for the police in Edinburgh and I’d like to reassure bike owners throughout the city, and those who choose to visit, that we will not tolerate this activity and we will continue to investigate pedal bike thefts as robustly as possible.

“The public can assist us in combating bike thefts by calling police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 with any information they have.”
