Edinburgh police confiscate alcohol and fine people for ‘urinating’ in The Meadows

Police in Edinburgh have issued fixed penalty fines to revellers for “urinating” in The Meadows last night.
In a tweet, officers said they also confiscated bottles and cans of alcohol in the incident in the city centre park on Monday.

Hide AdEarlier today, police confirmed to the Edinburgh Evening News that a 15-year-old boy and 14-year-old girl were arrested after a fight between a group of youths broke out in the Meadows yesterday evening.
“Five or six police vehicles”
Officers were called after hearing reports of a disturbance between a group of people at about 6:10pm on Monday evening.
A concerned resident said they spotted about “five or six police vehicles” in the area.
Police said that by the time officers arrived, the group of youths had split up, but confirmed that two arrests were made but no one was injured in the disturbance.

Hide AdThe 15-year-old male was released and the 14-year-old girl was sent home and a youth offending report was submitted.
“Unacceptable behaviour won’t be tolerated”
In a tweet this afternoon, Police in Edinburgh told followers: “Your community officers have been out patrolling The Meadows so you can socialise safely.
“A small minority of people were arrested for crimes, given fixed penalty fines for urinating, and we also confiscated this” - attaching a photo of bottles and cans of Corona, Strongbow, and Budweiser.
“Unacceptable behaviour won’t be tolerated.”
