Edinburgh police investigate late night blaze at block of flats in Oxgangs

Police are investigating a fire at a block of flats in Oxgangs that broke out late last night.
Emergency services were called at around 11pm on Monday evening, after reports of a fire in the stairwell of a block of flats in Oxgangs Drive.

Hide AdOne witness told the Evening News that three fire engines were parked outside the building, along with multiple police cars.
They said officers cordoned off the area outside the flats with police tape, and began searching the nearby Colinton Mains Park with torches.
"It woke quite a few people in the area,” they said, “making them worry what was going on.”
Police Scotland said officers were treating the incident as a wilful fire raising, and that their enquiries are ongoing.

Hide AdThey confirmed that no one was injured in the incident, and that none of the flats were damaged by the fire.
Residents have since been allowed back into their homes.
