Edinburgh police make CCTV image appeal after serious assault on Princes Street

Police in Edinburgh have released CCTV images in the hope of identifying a man they wish to speak to after a serious assault on Princes Street in January.

The stills, taken from a Lothian Bus’ CCTV system, show a man boarding the bus at 2:17am on Wednesday, January 8, 2020.

Just minutes earlier, police say a serious assault occurred on Princes Street.

The man in the images is white, between 5’ 10” and 6’ with a slim build. He is wearing a green hooded jacket, navy jeans and dark shoes.

Detective Constable John Dunn of Gayfield CID said: "As part of the investigation, we are eager to identify the man in the images and would urge him, or anyone who recognises him, to get in touch with us immediately.”

Those with information can contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0250 of Wednesday, 8 January 2020. Alternatively, information can be passed to the charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
