Police in Edinburgh have released CCTV images of a man they believe can help their investigation into an assault on Nicolson Street in January.

A 30-year-old man had to be hospitalised after the incident, which happened at 2:30pm on Friday, January 17, 2020.

Officers have asked the man in the CCTV stills, or anyone who recognises him, to contact them.

In the images, he is wearing a black jacket, black trousers and brown shoes.

Detective Constable Christina Yeoman, of Gayfield CID, said: “Nicolson Street would have been busy at the time of this incident.

“We are appealing to members of the public who recognise the person in this image, or who have information that may assist with our enquiries, to get in touch.

“Anyone with information can contact Gayfield CID via 101, quoting incident number 2133 of the 17 January 2020 or an anonymous report can be made to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
