Edinburgh police swoop on Corstorphine Hill after reports of man with knife

A man has been arrested during a major police operation after reports of a man brandishing a knife on Corstorphine Hill in Edinburgh.

Locals reported seeing "at least six police cars and vans in attendance" at around 11 oclock on Saturday morning.

Officers launched a manhunt to find the man and he was captured sometime around 11.30 am.

A Police Scotland spokesperson told the Edinburgh Evening News: "We received a report of a man in possession of a knife in the Corstorphine Hill area of Edinburgh around 10.50am on Saturday, 6 June, 2020.

"Officers attended and traced the 45-year-old man.

“Nobody was injured.

“He was arrested and charged and is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday, 8 June, 2020."
