Three men have been slammed after they were spotted risking their lives by climbing an Edinburgh beauty spot at the height of the coronavirus pandemic.

The ‘idiots’ were seen scaling the 150-foot rock face of Salisbury Crags at around 4pm yesterday.

One man is pictured halfway up the rock face while his two friends encourage him on from the ground – despite being told to stay indoors by the authorities.

The climber is wearing a yellow jacket, dark jogging bottoms and trainers and does not seem to be carrying any ropes or to be wearing a helmet.

Passery-by Thomas Croal captured the men traversing the rock face from his home and said: “The Radical Road is closed, and forgetting the virus for a second, those idiots are risking there lives climbing up the front.”

Locals have also blasted the trio as they risked severe injury and for potentially putting pressure on the emergency services after a picture was posted on the Edinburgh Past and Present Facebook page.

Tracy McBurnie posted: “The police need to arrest them and fine them.”

Kay Cantley said: “What the hell is wrong with these idiots? Hell mend them if they fall.”

And Keith Maguire added: “I think if you are stupid enough to partake in a dangerous activity at the moment you should forego your right to receive any medical attention in the vent of an accident.”
