Man, 35, in court after driver stopped in Bathgate tested 'five times over drink drive limit'

A 35-year-old man is due in court today after allegedly being caught five times over the legal alcohol limit while driving in Bathgate.

A driver stopped by police refused to be breath-tested at the roadside, but when taken to a nearby station produced a result of 118mg, more than five times over the legal limit in Scotland of 22mg.

They were also driving a car which did not belong to them and had been taken without permission.

When their identity was confirmed police discovered they was also wanted on warrant.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Officers stopped the car on Edinburgh Road in Bathgate around 3:15am on Sunday.

"A 35-year-old man was arrested and charged and is due to appear in court today."
