Man arrested following foot chase and 'disturbance' near Scottish Parliament

A 50-year-old man was arrested following a police chase near the Scottish Parliament, Police Scotland have said.

Witnesses said there was a high volume of police vehicles and between six and a dozen police officers on foot chasing after a man close to the Scottish Parliament building in Holyrood.

He was eventually caught close to the water feature outside the Parliament.

Police Scotland confirmed a man was arrested following a “disturbance” on Horse Wynd.

He was charged in connection with the incident and is due to appear at Edinburgh’s Sheriff Court on Monday 11 May.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 4.35pm on Thursday, 7 May, 2020, officers were called to a disturbance on Horse Wynd, Edinburgh. A 50-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident and is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Monday, 11 May."
