Between August 2015 and this month, a man attended a number of homes claiming to be collecting money for charity and requesting sponsorship.
He also claimed he had just received a large note and requested change, confusing the victim into handing over more money.

The eldest victim was an 82-year-old woman.
Sergeant Stuart Aitchison of Dalkeith said: “Bogus callers typically target those who they perceive to be the most vulnerable.
“These crimes took advantage of the good will in our communities, and have had a considerable impact on the confidence of some of the victims.
“If you are suspicious of a caller, please get in touch. Be assured that we would rather attend a false alarm than have someone fall victim to doorstep crime.
