A man has been arrested and charged after being caught carrying a stun gun in Prestonpans.

Police in East Lothian received a report on Monday, June 19 around 6.15 pm that the 33-year-old had been seen walking through a park near Preston Lodge High School holding the device.

Chief Inspector Neil Mitchell, area commander for East Lothian, said: "I would like to reassure the community that incidents like this are rare and nobody was injured.

“Our officers responded quickly, a man was then traced and arrested at 6.55pm and the device was seized."

The 33-year-old is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday.
