East Lothian police have taken a man into custody after receiving reports of attempted car break-ins throughout the night between Thursday and Friday.

The suspect was described as approximately 5ft 9in tall, wearing all black clothing and a black baseball cap and was spotted trying to break into cars around the Blink O’Forth area in Prestonpans, and police have reported that they have taken a man into custody but are hopeful for local residents with more information or CCTV footage will step forward.

The police are also reminding people to keep their cars locked and not to leave valuables within.
