Man threatened driver and blocked entrance to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary

A Haddington man who blocked the entrance to a maternity building at an Edinburgh hospital has been sentenced to carry out unpaid work in the community.

Peter Fraser became involved in a fracas at the building at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where he also threatened to drive a van into another vehicle.

He then went on to block the entrance to the maternity unit.

Solicitor Angela Craig told Edinburgh Sheriff Court that Fraser, 34, could not attend the hearing as he had to be present to at a children’s hearing.

Ms Craig said Fraser, had “lost his temper” during the exchange and a psychiatric report was available to the court.

Sheriff Adrian Fraser said “unpaid work would present structure” to Fraser and ordered him to complete 80 hours over the next 12 months as punishment after he admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by threatening to drive a van in to another vehicle and blocking the ERI entrance on June 15 this year.
