Midlothian crimebeat July 20-26

Here is your weekly round-up of crime in Midlothian, for July 20-26, as reported by Police Scotland.

DALKEITH:

On 23rd July officers attended in the area Edmonstone Road, Danderhall, following a report of a man staggering in the street pushing a buggy. On their arrival a 41 year old man was found walking in the middle of the road pushing the buggy with a child within. Due to him being under the influence of drugs or alcohol he was searched and found in possession of cannabis. A report has been submitted the procurator fiscal in relation to Drugs and Offences under the Childrens and Young Person Act.

On 24th July at Lidl in Dalkeith a 22 year old woman left the store with alcohol having failed to pay for it. She was stopped by store security and police called. A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

On 25th July a vehicle was stopped by officers in the area of Ancrum Bank, Dalkeith. A 19 year old man was found in possession of a white powder which tested positive for cocaine. A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

On 25th July a vehicle driven by a 54 year old woman was stopped by police at Lauder Road, Dalkeith. Enquiries found that there was no valid insurance in force for the vehicle. The vehicle was seized and a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

On 25th July following a disturbance at an address in Arthur View Terrace, Danderhall a 36 year old man has been cautioned and charged in relation to an assault. A report has been submitted to the procurator Fiscal.

NEWTONGRANGE / MAYFIELD:

On 25th July a 33 year old man was seen exiting a vehicle in Easthouses Road, Mayfield. Due to him suspected of being under the influence of alcohol the police were called. On arrival officers traced the man and enquires provided evidence he had driven the vehicle. The man was arrested and procedures carried out at a police station, which provided that he was above the prescribed limit of alcohol to drive a vehicle. A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in relation to the offence.

GOREBRIDGE:

On 24th July officers were called to a disturbance at an address in Gorebridge where a man and a woman were reported to be kicking at the door. On police arrival a 58 year old man was traced in the rear garden. On being approached by officers he resisted arrest. A 56 year old woman was later traced at her home address. Both have been reported to the Procurator Fiscal in relation to the incident.

BONNYRIGG:

On 21 July whilst on patrol at Polton Street, Bonnyrigg officers observed a man arguing and challenging another man to fight. On speaking to a 16 year old man he refused to desist and continued acting in threatening and abusive manner. The man was issued with a Recorded Police Warning.

A 14 year old male was cautioned and charged in connection with an assault on staff at business premises in High Street, Bonnyrigg on 23rd July. A report has been submitted to the Youth Justice Officer.

PENICUIK:

On 22nd July officers attended a report of youths causing a disturbance near the Tesco store on Edinburgh Road. Penicuik. A 17 year old male who was traced was found to be in possession of cannabis and issued with a Recorded Police Warning.

ROSLIN / ROSEWELL:

On 21st July a 37 year old man attended at an address in Wallace Crescent, Roslin where he behaved in a threatening and abusive manner. The man was later traced and a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in relation to the incident.
