Midlothian Crimebeat March 29 - April 4

Here is your weekly round-up of crime in Midlothian, for March 29 – April 4, as reported by Police Scotland.

DALKEITH:

On March 29, officers responded to reports of a theft and assault of a 25-year-old man in the Bruce Gardens area. Officers attended and were able to recover his property. A 22-year-old woman was arrested and charged with the offences. She was released from police custody with special bail conditions and will appear at court at a later date.

On March 30, officers received reports of a man driving erratically at Ryndale Court. A 22-year-old man was traced. He undertook a drugs swab which indicated he was under the influence of illegal substances. He was arrested and conveyed to police custody.

GOREBRIDGE:

On April 2, officers attended an address in Birkenside in relation to a noise complaint. The 40-year-old female occupant was warned regarding the noise and issued a recorded police warning in relation to possession of cannabis.

BONNYRIGG:

On April 3, police were made aware of an aggressive man within the Moorfoot View area. Officers located a 21-year-old man who was arrested and issued a recorded police warning for behaving in a threatening and abusive manner. He was released from police custody when sober.

LOANHEAD:

On March 30, officers observed a car being driven erratically on Gaynor Avenue. Officers stopped the vehicle a short distance later. The 36-year-old male driver was charged with driving with no insurance, no license and taking a vehicle without consent. A report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal.

On March 30, officers responded to reports of an ongoing disturbance on Mayburn Terrace. A 55-year-old man was issued with a recorded police warning for assault.

On March 31, officers attended an address on Lawrie Terrace in relation to a man acting in a threatening manner. Officers traced a 38-year-old man within the address. He was charged with vandalism and using threatening and abusive behaviour. He was released from police custody with special bail conditions. Later that day the man breached his bail conditions and was subsequently arrested, charged and held for court the next day.

On April 1, officers observed a vehicle being driven without valid insurance. The vehicle was stopped on Burleigh Terrace. The 18-year-old male driver was charged with various traffic offences including driving without insurance and without a valid license. The vehicle was seized and a report submitted to the procurator fiscal.

PENICUIK:

On April 2, officers observed a vehicle driving in an erratic manner at the Gowkleymoss roundabout. The vehicle was stopped a short distance later. The 41-year-old male driver failed the roadside breath test and was subsequently arrested. He was released from police custody to appear ta court at a later date.

On April 3, officers were made aware of an ongoing fight within an address on Eastfield Drive. They attended immediately. A 29-year-old man was thereafter arrested and charged with assault.

BILSTON:

On April 4, officers responded to reports of a noise complaint at Myrtle Crescent. They were met by the 30-year-old male occupant who immediately acted in an aggressive manner towards officers. The man was charged with behaving in a threatening and abusive manner, resisting arrest and breaching Covid regulations. He was held in police custody until sober.
