DALKEITH

On Monday, May 11, officers were on mobile patrol when they observed a white Peugeot driving erratically on the A7 near to Sheriffhall. Officers stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver during which time enquiries revealed the man was driving without a valid certificate of insurance for the vehicle. The man was charged with a Section 143 of the Road Traffic Act and a report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

On Wednesday, May 13, officers attended in Woodburn Drive, regarding a report of a man driving a blue Citroen Berlingo van behaving suspiciously. Officers attended and observed the van within the street and spoke with the driver. During this time they carried out a search of the vehicle where they recovered a knife and controlled drugs. The man was arrested and charged and a report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

On Wednesday, May 13, officers were in Easter Langside Drive when they detected the smell of cannabis emanating from a property. On closer inspection they identified the property and observed a small cannabis cultivation within. During this time a man jumped from one of the properties windows and discarded a bag containing a quantity of tablets. All persons within the address were searched where further controlled drugs were recovered. Two 21 year old men were arrested and conveyed to St Leonards and interviewed and charged in relation to the production and possession of cannabis with further charges likely once analysis has been carried out on the tablets recovered. A report for summons will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

On Saturday, May 16, officers were on mobile patrol when they observed two men on Woodburn Road. After speaking with the men it was established that they had travelled to the Dalkeith area for no specific reason despite having recently been reminded of the Covid guidelines by Police. Therefore a 39 and 40 year old man were issued with fixed penalty tickets for breach of the Covid-19 regulations.

NEWTONGRANGE / MAYFIELD:

On Thursday, May 14, officers were called to a Sycamore Road in relation to an ongoing disturbance. On arrival a woman was found with injuries and was checked out by the ambulance service. Statements were noted at the scene and a 28 year old woman was shortly traced nearby and arrested in relation to charges of Possession of an Offensive Weapon, Assault to Injury, Section 38 of the Criminal Justice and Licencing (Scotland) Act 2010 and Breach of Police Bail Conditions. She was held in custody to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.

GOREBRIDGE:

On Wednesday, May 14, officers carried out a routine check on a Peugeot travelling on the A7 just south of Gorebridge. The check revealed that there was no insurance held for the vehicle. Further enquiries were carried out with the 33 year old female driver where it was established she had not renewed her insurance from the previous year. An endorsable Fixed Penalty Ticket was issued.

On Sunday, May 17, officers stopped a Volkswagen Golf on Whitehouse Loan. After speaking with the driver the officers utilised their powers to search of the vehicle and a knife was recovered from within. The 25 year old man was cautioned and charged and a summons report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

LOANHEAD:

On Tuesday, May 12, officers observed a vehicle within the car park at Straiton Retail Park. Whilst carrying out enquiries it was established that the vehicle did not have valid insurance and that the driver was driving whilst disqualified. The 26 year old female driver was cautioned and charged with road traffic offences and the vehicle was seized. A report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

On Tuesday, May 12, officers on mobile patrol on The Loan, stopped a van, where it was revealed the 28 year old male driver did not hold a valid certificate of insurance for the vehicle. The male was issued with a fixed penalty ticket and the vehicle was seized.

ROSLIN / ROSEWELL:

On Monday, May 11, police attended at Rosslynlee Hospital building following a report of someone being within. A 19 year old man who was subsequently traced became verbally abusive towards officers and was found to have an outstanding warrant. The man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident and released to appear at court at a later date.

On Wednesday, May 13, officers observed a man on Wallace Crescent and stopped to speak with him. During this time they carried out a search where they recovered a quantity of controlled drugs. The 46 year old man was arrested and charged. A report for summons has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
