Edinburgh resident Joyce Dalgleish spotted the damaged vehicle in Saughton Park at about 8am on Monday, 3 November.

Pictures of the motorbike show it has clearly been engulfed in flames before being dumped in the park.

Edinburgh City Council and Police Scotland have been contacted for comment.

Saughton Park has been subjected to several cases of vandalism recently, including an incident where a children’s swing was damaged after being set on fire by vandals towards the end of last month.

At the time of the incident Cllr Donald Wilson said: “It is extremely disappointing to see deliberate damage to our playpark at Saughton Park, which is not only disruptive, but costs money to rectify.

“This kind of a behaviour is completely unacceptable and it’s a real shame that children visiting the park have to suffer because of the damage caused by a few. I would encourage anyone who may have information on the incident to contact the Police.”

A major fire also swept across Saughton Park in June earlier this year during which a homeless man had to be pulled to safety.

A group of youths, between the ages of 14 and 16 were seen in the area on local CCTV and officers treated the fire as a deliberate act.

A storage shelter which contained sports equipment including gym mats used for athletics and other track and field equipment was destroyed in the incident.
