A motorbike passenger is in hospital with serious injuries after the bike they were travelling on hit a traffic island in the south of Edinburgh late last night.

Police in Edinburgh are appealing for witnesses following the accident on Colinton Mains Drive, which happened at around 10.40pm on Friday.

Police and an ambulance attended and the passenger was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary having suffered serious injuries.

Enquiries in relation to the incident are on-going.

The driver of the motorcycle left the scene heading westward and was last seen turning right at Tesco.

Sergeant Andrew Trotter of Edinburgh City Road Policing, said: “We are appealing for anyone who may have information and who has not already come forward to do so.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash, anyone who may have dashcam footage or anyone who has seen the motorcycle around the time of the incident to get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 4495 of 21 February.
