Police Scotland is appealing for information after a 23-year-old man died in a one-car collision on the A92 between Bankhead and Redhouse last night.

Officers were made aware on the incident involving a silver Honda Civic around 11:35pm on the evening of Thursday 6 August 2020.

Locals in the area reported seeing a ‘flipped car’ on the road in the early hours of the morning and there were reports of an air ambulance in the area.

Emergency services attended, however, the 23-year-old was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The A92 was closed in both directions between Bankhead and Redhouse for around seven hours to allow crash investigation work to be carried out but the road has now reopened.

Enquiries are ongoing and police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

Sergeant Ewan Pearce of Glenrothes Road Policing Unit said: “Our thoughts and sympathies are with the family and friends of the man who sadly lost his life in this tragic incident.

“I am asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or the vehicle prior to the crash, to contact us if you have not already done so.

“We are also asking anyone in the area at the time to review their dashcam footage for anything relevant that could assist with our investigation."
