Police cars damaged after van driver crashes into them in Edinburgh hit and run

Two police vehicles have been damaged after a van officers were flagging down failed to stop and crashed into them before driving off.

The van was found shortly after the crash, which happened in Loganlea Road, Edinburgh on Sunday, 13 December at about 5.30pm, but the driver was no where to be seen.

Officers seized the vehicle but are still trying to locate the driver and a passenger who was in the van at the time of the collision.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

A police spokeswoman said: “Around 5.25pm on Sunday, 13 December, a van failed to stop for officers on Loganlea Road, Edinburgh.

"Two police cars were damaged after they were driven into by the vehicle.

"No one was injured.

"The van was traced a short time later. The driver and passenger fled the scene and enquiries are ongoing to trace them.

"The road was reopened around 8.45pm.”
