Police closed North Bridge as ‘precaution’ following reports of concern for person

Police closed a major city road for around an hour on Friday evening following a report of concern for a person.

Officers received a call at around 8.40pm last night from a member of the public voicing concerns about the well-being of a person on North Bridge in central Edinburgh.

They say they managed to trace a man who was then taken to hospital.

North Bridge was temporarily cordoned off before being reopened at 10pm.

All traffic and a number of local bus services were diverted while police attended the scene.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of concern for a person on North Bridge, Edinburgh, around 8.40pm on Friday, 25 September, 2020.

“Officers attended and a man was traced safely and taken to hospital for treatment.

“The bridge was closed as a precaution while officers attended and re-opened around 10pm.”
